Graffiti Nail art

Have you ever walked past some graffiti and thought, WOW thats some pretty cool stuff! I am not saying its right (because I don't agree with it at all), but there is some amazing artwork that goes into some of them. I think there should be places, like special walls for them where they can go paint the walls and people can go to look at them if they want to.

Anyway... more to the point. Some graffiti is inspiring, you can take a piece of graffiti and turn it into something new! Theres so many you can find thats pefect to do this!

I don't think the picture really does the nails justice, but anyway; I used graffiti to get this nail art design, again I used LA Colours nail varnish that I was given to do this - www.lacolours.com these are the main colours I used:
Then the pink and the black fine details are some cheap varnishes I got off of ebay. I will be adding video tutorials to do my nail art once ive got my camcorder, but for now heres the simple instructions :)

1 - paint the whole nail green (u did about three coats)
2 - from the outside to the in, swipe the black cross one side, then do the same for the other so you get a good triangle shape
3 - outline the black triagles with pink paint (nail art pen, coctail stick etc)
4 - DOODLE AWAY! :)
5 - add a top coat to keep the nail safe :)

So what do you think of using graffitti to inspire your nail art? Leave a comment and let me know, and follow/join this blog as theyll be lots of nail art to come! and if you like a good competition checkout this one! - http://fashionfixhunter.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/competition-win-pack-of-strawberry-curls.html - were giving away a pack of strawberry curls! :) follow me on twitter too- @sammigirl1994

ASOS magazine’s September cover girl is...Rita Ora!

Everybody knows that the September magazine issues are the most important of the entire year, so we totally get why the ASOS magazine is getting in there early by revealing its cover amazing aso early.

The ASOS September issue has none other than Rita Ora on the cover, and as a result, it’s bold, tough, fierce, edgy and downright amazing! All of our recent favourite trends are evident on the cover: denim, studs, prints and the over-all rock chick image, with lots of attitude to boot.
On paper, the mish-mash of materials really shouldn’t work... But they do, and boy do they look good? Rita Ora sure can pull it off! Rita Ora is a great choice for a cover star, and I can't wait till it comes out so I can checkout the editorial pictures too!

Do yu think this cover looks good or what?! please follow the blog too (on the right hand side of page) and you can follow me on twitter - @sammigirl1994

Virgin America collabs with Banana Republic for new uniforms

Banana Republic‘s next collaboration is taking fashion to new heights–35,000 feet in the air to be exact–thanks to a new partnership with Virgin America.

Banana Republic has designed uniforms for the airline’s 2,000 airport teammates, pilots and in-flight teammates. According to the press release, the uniforms, which will debut on Virgin America flights and at airports nationwide on August 8, 2012, will reference the airline’s colors, and will offer a fresh and modern twist on classic aviation looks. It took Virgin America 18 months to come up with the new look. Attendants and executives had Project Runway-type sessions before settling on the winning design.

“In creating the uniform designs for Virgin America, we wanted to respect the heritage of in-flight uniform design while injecting a modern twist that’s both functional and fashionable,” Banana Republic’s Creative Director and Executive Vice President, Simon Kneen said. “We referenced the time when onboard style and sophistication was of utmost importance and designed a modern interpretation that incorporates aviation details and celebrates Virgin America’s signature style.”
The designers also wanted to take into account the opinions of the people who would eventually be wearing the uniforms. “A critical part of the initial design process was when our Banana Republic design team spoke with Virgin America flight crew members to get an inside look at what they truly wanted for the uniforms they would be wearing every day,”

The result are outfits that while being sleek and contemporary, also have a retro, timeless quality to them, harkening back to the 50s and 60s–an aesthetic that has become somewhat of a niche for Banana Republic.

And, for those of you who want to get some of this fashion into your wardrobe but have yet to get your pilot’s license, Virgin America and Banana Republic will be selling select items to the general public for a limited time! Starting August 7, Virgin America customers will be able to choose from a selection of Banana Republic’s travel essentials inspired by the new uniforms–including aviator sunglasses, trenches for men and women, a leather tote and men’s messenger bag–and will be able to purchase in-flight with the click of a button on the airline’s entertainment system.
Lest we forget, this isn’t the first time that Banana Republic and Virgin America have gotten into bed together: The two companies partnered to stage the first live-tweeted in-flight fashion show this past February, and in 2010, they collaborated on in-flight makeovers.

Heres some pictures of the  new uniforms:

I love the new uniforms... Although I do think that the plain will be more of a runway! I guess its about taking fashion to new heights, and this makeover has definetly done that! What do you think?!

summer hairstyles (video tutorials)

So I can't wait for the summer holidays and decided to show you the hairstyles I think are brilliant for this summer, found some videos and products you should try! from plaits, braids, updo's, waterfall braids, side braids, I'm sure there's something for you! :D

                                                                     Elegant Sidebraid

                                                                     MilkMaid braid

Soft updo

Half Up Waterfall Braid

Stawberry Curls

Comb hair to release tangles and then section off a 1-inch piece of hair. Open the Strawberry Curl curler and wrap the section of hair around the curler starting at the very tip of the hair. Twist the Strawberry Curl lock in place and move to the next section of hair. To avoid curler lines, section hair off randomly, starting at the top of your head and moving to the sides and back. For tight curls, wrap the foam curlers tightly and close to the scalp. For softer more natural- looking curls, wrap the curlers loosely, using larger sections of hair.

Dry your curls using a hair dryer, or let them dry overnight while you sleep!
Untwist the Strawberry Curl curler and gently unroll the foam curlers from your hair one at a time. If a piece of hair snags on the curler, take the time to gently pull the snag free, so you do not damage your hair. Comb through the curls and style! get yours now from http://www.strawberrycurls.com and follow them on twitter - https://twitter.com/StrawberrycurIs

Please share, comment and follow the blog (on the right of the page) and follow me on twitter @sammigirl1994 :) which ones are you going to try?

Which do you prefer?

WOW!  Marion Cotillard is covering not one, but two Vogue issues in August – the US edition, and the cover of Vogue Paris!

The two covers are sooo different, but both look amazing. The US cover portrays the French actress, who stars in the upcoming Batman sequal 'The dark knight rises', wearing a blue velvet blazer and rather natural makeup. The Paris version, photographed by Mario Sorrenti, features an extreme closeup of Cotillard and she looks beautiful! What happened to her little forehead mole?

I know which one I like best... but what about you? The Vogue Paris cover is clearly a more beautiful picture, however it gives the impression that it should be on the front of a beauty magazine, shes just so amazing. However, I have noticed that mole on her forhead - gone? I think that her mole makes her unique, but the airbrush has taken it away! (OH NO)
The US cover may be a little bit more plain, the fashion approach is much more suitable for the fashion bible.

which do you prefer, and why?

Nail art gradient nails - inspired by Malibu - LA Colours

LA Colours

http://www.lacolors.com/

So I was given a range of LA Colours nail varnish to play around with and post pics on my blog about them. I've created quite a few looks, but since its almost summer holidays (which need to come quicker!) I decided to do first inspired By malibu! :) I have my Video recorder on the way in the post, so soon I will be able to show you how to do nail art with a video :D

There are so many celebs right now that are sporting amazing nail art, and if you wanna learn how to get that look.. Then you've come to the right place!

So heres a picture of a beach in Malibu with the sun setting, it looks gorgeous! Can't wait for my holiday! :D
I was given a wide range of colours, but these are the ones I used:

They are really nice colours, they have nail hardening in them, and they're also chip resistant! But the 'shock' colour is actually more yellow than that blob, it bright yellow actually...

Here's a picture of everything I used to create the look

Red - LA Colours
yellow - LA Colours
orange (Atomic) - Nails inc
black - ebay
maximum growth & hardener (i use for basecoat) - Sally Hanson
Top coat - LA Colours
foundation sponge - can get from most supermarkets and beauty stores
fine brush - ebay
wooden stick - from a nail kit

How to do it:
(this will be a video when my camcorder gets here)
1. Paint all nails with the maximum growth and wait to dry.
2. Paint all of the nails yellow and wait to dry.
3. use the sponge to dab the orange from the bottom of the nail to the middle, allow to dry.
4. use the same sponge to dab the red from the bottom of the nail to 1/4 up, allow to dry.
5. use the black polish and the paint brush to draw a plam tree on the left of the nail.

The Final Look

So above is me sporting the finished Malibu gradient palm tree nails, and I really like them! the colours are bright and they arn't fading like some varnishes do. they have that glossy look - which makes them hard to photo as they're just so shiny! so if you like these colours then head on over to http://www.lacolors.com/ and get yours now! :)

If you like this kind of nail art then subscribe, follow, comment, follow me on twitter (@sammigirl1994). And if you are stuck on what to paint on your nails or you want me to paint some for you to copy, then tweet me and your wish may just be granted!
