Hiii! Recently in the media, various things have come to my attention...When I was in the supermarket yesterday I glanced across the magazine section and noticed a couple of stories that bothered me. I don't usually post about weight related stuff as I don't want to influence people into thinking the wrong things. Yes I do catwalking and modelling and people often say things about me being skinny. Each to their own and all entitled to their opinion.
I would like to state that this post is not bias, not pinpointing anyone or trying to hurt anyone's feelings.

Now, we all know that catwalk models tend to be pretty skinny - that's the industries idea of fashion. Fair enough I think, there are also plus size modelling so it's not like its only for certain people. But im that's not my point anyway.
I have saw in magazines articles about Kendall Jenner.. now these articles show pictures of what an Australian magazine have published and basically deemed her too fat for the runway.

Yes the pictures show that she has signs of cellulite on the back of her legs. As you can see the picture on the right has better lighting and her skin looks fine, then on the left the lighting isn't so good and you can see cellulite. Reality check - Does everyone look good from every angle in any light 24/7.?I've saw pictures of supermodels looking dreadful, but doesn't everyone at some point? Whats wrong with having days where you don't need to try? Or go out without any makeup on, hair tied up and wearing joggers? What is society when people cant be themselves? But hey, media need stories... I Googled some pics to prove how disgusting celebs can look, but what I came up with is things like drunk messes, and anyone can look a mess when they're drunk! Or greasy hair, bad makeup, surgery gone wrong, basically what other people perceive to be wrong. So I'm not going to post any pics to shame anyone because anyone can look a mess regardless of their 'social state'.
So while im on this topic, ive heard a song - all about the bass. Never heard of the singer before, the song is really catchy and I thinks its good that someone's singing about how they are confident being curvy. Its inspirational to many, I mean go ahead, parade and show that your proud of yourself however there is no need to put people down in the process. I'm talking about the things said in this song. For instance, a few quotes
'I see the magazine workin' that Photoshop, We know that shit ain't real, C'mon now, make it stop'
'You know I won't be no stick figure silicone Barbie doll, So if that's what you're into then go ahead and move along'
'Go ahead and tell them skinny bitches that, No I'm just playing.'
'You know I won't be no stick figure silicone Barbie doll, So if that's what you're into then go ahead and move along'
'Go ahead and tell them skinny bitches that, No I'm just playing.'
These particular parts stand out. Being skinny myself, to be honest I find this song insulting. Its on TV that being curvy or bigger is fine, and so is being skinny or however you are. So when people sing songs like this? Yes people will take offence. And for one, I know that the majority of photoshoots I have done aren't even photo-shopped at all, and when they have been its editing the background etc, not my figure. I wouldn't have thought that would have been her intentions to insult people, then again why sing it then? This song is skinny shaming, and for one some people are naturally skinny, that doesn't make them a b!tch. Just like being large doesn't automatically mean they're lazy.
We shouldn't be sending out messages to people that it's not okay to be skinny, it's been all over the news that the UK is increasingly becoming one of the countries with the most overweight people. However it's not okay to shame 'fat' people either. What is wrong with girls complimenting other girls? Why can't people just get along instead of firing off at people who have done no wrong? People won't be happy if everyone insults them, so why don't we compliment everyone and all help each other out?
What do you all think about all this? do you think its wrong to shame people like the magazines and songs like this have?

Yes, it's definitely wrong to shame people. We are all beautiful in our own right.

fashion insdustry is too cruel for models!
ReplyDeleteI don't care if they are a bit fatter, but the designers want their models to be really really thin...

it really is! society judging people, the fashion industry judge people - two completely different prospectives. its like everybody's shape is wrong in one or the others eyes nowadays unfortunatly
DeleteI don't support shaming at all. There's nothing wrong being skinny nor fat, it's the personality that counts for me. Love this post, my dear!
