Hothair Fishtail Plait

Hey! I have been pretty busy and it's only the start of the summer holidays, but I'm not going on holiday now in this summer break so that means I can blog more!  I have been pretty busy reply to emails from businesses, keeping up to date with everything, trying out samples etc so that's kept me occupied :D

Hothair sent me over an email and I didn't no which product to choose because they have so many nice ones that I love love loveee! I ended up choosing the fishtail plait as it's quite unusual and I wanted to try it out for you and show you what it looks like. I have seen a few different designs of clip on fishtail plaits, some where they open up and clip you hair inside the length of the plait and some where it clips onto your pony tail.

This particular fishtail plait I was sent clips onto your pony tail, I have quite long hair so I wasn't sure if it was going to work. I sat at the mirror and had a go with it and failed the first few times, my hair was just to long. The fishtail braid is quite a bit longer than my hair so I wouldn't be able to get that length with my hair - and I cant do fishtails on my own hair anyway so this is a perfect fix. I do think this design best fits shorter hair, but I wasn't prepared to give up, I was determined to get this fishtail plait to fit on my hair and look good. I am going to tell you now, this post is pretty packed with photos of the product and also a quick and easy to follow photo tutorial.

The fishtail plait came in a small box

I opened up the box and the fishtail was wrapped in a net to keep it safe and prevent any knotting.
I have taken out the fishtail plait for you to see. I think it's a bit strange, it's just unusual like someones plait has been cut off and it's right there! It looks so real! But don't worry, it hasn't :P

Above is a tutorial and a quick introduction by Hothair I thought I would share with you. You can also view on YouTube here.
I tried this and decided to do mine slightly different as my hair is longer.
I put my hair into a low side ponytail, made a gap above the hair bands with two fingers. Then I pulled the pony up and back through the gap, making the hair a bit shorter and also adding some twirled hair to the fishtail plait.

This is the fishtail plait attached above my hair band, with my hair swirled above the plait. I am wearing a two tops, that's not my bra I promise :P

If you are one of those girls that has always wanted hair down to your butt, you got it now gurl!

The fishtail plait comes in a range of different shades, the one I have is 'Creamy Twist' which has a mix of blondy shades which is really nice, as some places its either blonde or brown and then it's hard to find one that will blend in with your hair but this one is really good. The hair feels natural and also looks natural too.

The fishtail plait doesn't have to be used the normal way, if you have a play around with it you will find there are many other hairstyles you can create with it to. You could follow my simple photo steps below on how to do a flat bun using the fishtail plait.

I did this flat hair bun by putting my hair into a high side ponytail - you can do high centre if you want, I just wanted to do something different. I did the bands tight so the weight of the hair wouldn't make the bun slip.

I then clipped the fishtail plait above my hair bands.

Fasten the Velcro and wrap the plaits extra hair around the Velcro.

I lifted the fishtail plait out of the way for now, while I twisted my own hair.

I wrapped my twisted hair around the fishtail plait and secured it with some hair pins.

Then the last step is to wrap the fishtail plait around your twisted hair bun and secure that too with some hair pins/grips. I then added a few hair pins to the top of the hair bun to make sure it had a flat top. I haven't got blonde hair pins but I'm sure you can get them and I really should do. I was going to do this tutorial as a video, but I need to get a tripod as my camera keeps falling and I don't want it to get broken.

You can get this fishtail plait here for £24.00
